Tara-Leigh Cobble of the Bible Recap Podcast has written another amazing book。 Her daily devotions take one verse in the Bible that shows a one of God's character。The short, daily devotional readings are powerful。 Every days' devotion were based in Truth, but many spoke to me and struggles I was facing at the time and encouraged me。 Many devotionals are too long or too fluffy, but this was a perfect quick devotion that took reader to a deeper level。 I will be giving this devotion to others for C Tara-Leigh Cobble of the Bible Recap Podcast has written another amazing book。 Her daily devotions take one verse in the Bible that shows a one of God's character。The short, daily devotional readings are powerful。 Every days' devotion were based in Truth, but many spoke to me and struggles I was facing at the time and encouraged me。 Many devotionals are too long or too fluffy, but this was a perfect quick devotion that took reader to a deeper level。 I will be giving this devotion to others for Christmas because it is one of the best devotionals I have used。I received a complimentary copy of this book through NetGalley, but all opinions are my own。 。。。more

A good, quick 100 day devotional that focuses on Scripture that reflects the attributes of God and includes thought-provoking questions at the end of every day。 "Grace isn't an excuse to sin。 Grace is forward moving - it's God's work in our lives as an agent of change, calling us beyond where we are。 It equips us to grow。"I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley。 All opinions expressed in this review are my own。 A good, quick 100 day devotional that focuses on Scripture that reflects the attributes of God and includes thought-provoking questions at the end of every day。 "Grace isn't an excuse to sin。 Grace is forward moving - it's God's work in our lives as an agent of change, calling us beyond where we are。 It equips us to grow。"I received an eARC of this book from the publisher via NetGalley。 All opinions expressed in this review are my own。 。。。more

As soon as I saw the title of this book, I was interested。 A year ago, our church did a Bible study on God and how important it is to live a God-centered life。 Since then, I’ve been a lot more aware of God-centric messages in songs and books, and have tried to incorporate more awareness of Him, his attributes, and His works in my life。 So when I saw this book, I knew I was interested。 A whole devotional studying God’s names and attributes as illustrated through the books of the New Testament? Yes, please!I grew to really appreciate this devotional。 Taking one passage from each of the New Testament books, you spend anywhere from one day up to around ten days studying that section of Scripture, with one particular attribute of God as a special focus of those verses。 Each day, you study one or two verses from the passage you’re in, and there is a three- or four-paragraph devotional to read each day。 If you were just to read the verse and the devotional, I think it would probably take somewhere between 60 and 90 seconds to get through—super quick, super easy bite-sized pieces of God’s word。 Or, if you have more time to study, you could take time to look at the surrounding chapter (or chapters!) for more context。My only complaint about this book? It wasn’t longer! I thoroughly enjoyed the 100 days I spent going through this, and hope there will be more books like this coming out in the future—we’ll see! This would make an excellent gift for a busy mother or college student, or anyone else who wants to grow in their faith and learn to see God’s character more clearly through the Scriptures。I was given a review copy of this book, and this is my honest opinion of it。 。。。more

The God Shot takes the reader through key passages found in each book of the New Testament and breaks down the passage a verse a day。 The reading highlights a key attribute of God and how the verse points to his characteristics。 These snapshots help a person studying the Bible see God through out the Bible。

First and foremost, I want to thank NetGalley and Bethany House Publishers for the ARC in exchange for an honest review。 The God Shot devotional explores small, powerful sections from each book of the New Testament one day at a time。 By reading the passages in context, the meaning of each individual verse is explained in new ways for our deeper understanding of God and His goodness。 Each day’s reading points toward a name or attribute of God that the passage reveals, showing how God’s character First and foremost, I want to thank NetGalley and Bethany House Publishers for the ARC in exchange for an honest review。 The God Shot devotional explores small, powerful sections from each book of the New Testament one day at a time。 By reading the passages in context, the meaning of each individual verse is explained in new ways for our deeper understanding of God and His goodness。 Each day’s reading points toward a name or attribute of God that the passage reveals, showing how God’s character can be found throughout Scripture。 These quick and helpful “snapshots” directly focus on the Word of God。 Each day is a quick < two minute read, but the message is deep with theological truth。 The following list are the attributes or names of God that are developed throughout the 100 day devotional: The God of Peace—Matthew 6:25–33  The God of Compassion—Mark 6:34–44  The God Who Loves Conversation—Luke 11:1–4  The God of Light and Truth—John 1:1–5  The God of Resurrection—Acts 2:22–33  The God Who Is Sovereign—Romans 8:28–34  The God of Love—1 Corinthians 13:1–11  The God Who Grants Righteousness—2 Corinthians 5:7–10  The God of All Nations—Galatians 3:1–9  The God Who Protects Us—Ephesians 6:10–20   The God Who Is Worth It—Philippians 3:7–11  The God Who Is Preeminent—Colossians 1:13–20  The God Who Builds His Church—1 Thessalonians 5:12–18  The God Who Empowers Us—2 ThessaloniansThe God Who Mediates—1 Timothy 2:1–6  The God of Patience—2 Timothy 3:16–4:5  The God Who Fulfills—Titus 3:4–11  The God of All Joy—Philemon 1:4–7   The God of Our Inheritance—Hebrews 1:1–8  The God of Wisdom—James 3:13–18  The God of Freedom—1 Peter 2:9–16  The God of Grace—2 Peter 1:2–4   The God Who Saves—1 John 3:16–22  The God Who Seeks Our Hearts—2 John 1:6  The God of All Goodness—3 John 1:11  The God Who Steadies Us—Jude 1:18–25  The God Who Will Return for Us—RevelationThe author explains the biblical passage and it’s pertinence to us。 She asks questions at the conclusion of each passage for the reader to make personal application。 Very practical。 Not only am I enlightened as to God’s attributes, I am encouraged as I learn more about who God is and His desire to develop a relationship with me。 Highly recommended devotional。 。。。more

This devotional contains 100 short devotions, but it packs a decent punch。 There were so many times that I ran across my room to grab a pen to write something down in my Bible or highlight a specific verse。 I think this would be a great devotional to read every morning right after you wake up, especially for teenagers。

The God Shot by Tara-Leigh Cobble is a wonderful tool to add to your Bible reading。 It is similar to her podcast in which she takes a few scriptures and explains the context, brings out truths and practical applications。 It’s almost like a little mini commentary and I would recommend it to those trying to understand more about what they are reading。

I just recently finished going through The Bible Recap with Tara-Leigh Cobble。 Like in her podcast, The God Shot reveals God’s character through these devotions based on New Testament Scriptures。 Although I enjoyed them, I was wishing they could be a little longer and maybe have a prayer at the end of each devotion。 With that said, I do appreciate that Tara-Leigh doesn’t write about her own musings and theology on the Scriptures。 Instead, she shares the Bible in its context and points to who God I just recently finished going through The Bible Recap with Tara-Leigh Cobble。 Like in her podcast, The God Shot reveals God’s character through these devotions based on New Testament Scriptures。 Although I enjoyed them, I was wishing they could be a little longer and maybe have a prayer at the end of each devotion。 With that said, I do appreciate that Tara-Leigh doesn’t write about her own musings and theology on the Scriptures。 Instead, she shares the Bible in its context and points to who God is。 I love it! Thanks net galley for the opportunity to read through this devotional option。 The author's writing style is easy to read and understand, the Scripture passages are encouraging and challenging as she nudges her readers to lean in and consider God's character and what that means for us as disciples。 Reading this in an electronic format was tricky。 I think it'd be better enjoyed in a printed form。 Thanks net galley for the opportunity to read through this devotional option。 The author's writing style is easy to read and understand, the Scripture passages are encouraging and challenging as she nudges her readers to lean in and consider God's character and what that means for us as disciples。 Reading this in an electronic format was tricky。 I think it'd be better enjoyed in a printed form。 。。。more

I'm not usually the biggest fan of devotional books, but this one by Tara-Leigh Cobble stood out to me。 She takes short portions of Scripture to highlight a part of God's character and helps us apply it meaningfully to our lives。 Each day has a short teaching and questions for reflection。 I'd highly recommend this devotional! Thanks for this ARC, NetGalley! As someone who works in youth ministry, I’m always looking for new devos to give to my students that are easily digestible and that would make great gifts for student leaders or students who are graduating。 I loved the format of this book and think it would be perfect for my teens (and even adults) to go through!
